Postfix was not running correctly for a while, so email notifications (like blog comments) were not being delivered. This has been fixed.

A new server is on the way! The new box is a 64-bit capable, dual Xeon 3.4GHz IBM x346 with 8GB of PC3200, and 6x 146GB SCSI drives. The system will be setup with the latest build of CentOS. Check back here later for a downtime schedule.

This server has been around (in some form or another) almost 10 years now. In that time, I have never charged for any services (though I have posted ads and asked for donations on occasion). Starting next month, that will change. I need to start covering at least a portion of my hosting costs.

At the end of this week, email services, including SMTP, POP3, and IMAP, will no longer be available. If you are using any of these services, please let me know ASAP.

Webmail is now available.

You can now use port 587 for SMTP. This is useful in case you are stuck behind a stupid ISP that doesn’t understand the concept of authenticated SMTP, and just decides to blanket-block all non-ISP mailservers. Thanks, AT&T.

The server was rebooted for a move today. It did have some issues coming back up, but is running smoothly now. Thanks to Will at NCATS for getting the system running and finding the problem. At the time of reboot, the system uptime was just over 518 days.

CHOZN no longer exists. The domain has expired.
